FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: How much does a quarter of beef cost?

A: We sell our beef at $3.75/lb. hanging weight. An average hanging quarter is approximately 200 lbs., but keep in mind this is a rough estimate, subject to the animal's size. You will also need to pay a separate processing fee which averages around .82 cents/lb. hanging weight. A half of beef will roughly cost twice as much as a quarter

Q: If I want to purchase a quarter or a half of beef, what do I need to do?

A: Contact us by calling 989-277-7741. We will take your name, phone number, and answer any questions you may have. When the next processing date is available we will contact you and request a $100 per-quarter deposit. Your deposit will be applied towards the purchase of your beef. Approximately 2-3 weeks following the processing date you will be contacted to pick up your meat.

Q: In the end, how many pounds of beef will I have for my freezer?

A: Once the meat is cut and packaged, an average quarter will yield approximately 120 pounds of packaged beef -- again, depending on the size of the animal.

Q: How much freezer space will I need for a quarter of beef?

A: The general rule of thumb is one square cubit foot of freezer space for every 25-30 lbs. of freezer beef.

Q: How lean is your Premium ground beef?

A: Our Premium ground beef is approximately 85% Lean / 15% Fat.

Q: What is the average size of your roasts?

A: Our chuck and rump roasts average three pounds.

Q: Are your cattle grass-fed?  Do you give them corn?

A: We believe in a high forage-diet (pasture, grass/hay and alfalfa hay) and a limited amount of corn, oats, and natural-sourced vitamins and minerals.
